Eleanore Swain Houghton Richardson, 82, of Clemson died Sunday, August 3, 2014 in Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.
Born in Utica, NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl Hazzard and Alice Groat Swain. She earned her bachelors and masters degrees from Clemson University. Eleanore was a former English teacher, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Healing Touch Practioner, and Yoga Instructor. She has served on the Pickens Country Library Board and was a volunteer working with Adult Literacy. Eleanore was also a member of the Gem and Mineral Society of Pendleton. She was a member of and served on the board of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Clemson.
Surviving are a son, Harry Houghton and wife, Melanie, of Charleston, SC; daughters, Liz Houghton Bird and husband, Geoff, of Asheville, NC, Alice Houghton of Gainesville, GA and Dorothy Houghton Pinckney of Athens, GA; and 11 grandchildren: Nick, Lacey, Tyler, and Misty Houghton; David and Ashley Case/Bird, Sam Bird; Natalie Umphlett Laungani and Rebel Umphlett/Houghton; and Chip and Ben Pinckney.
A Celebration of Eleanore's life will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, August 7, 2014 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodland Cemetery on the campus of Clemson University.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
