Elizabeth "Liza" Hamilton Bentley

Elizabeth “Liza” Hamilton Bentley of Greer, SC passed away peacefully at the age of 59. Born in Easley, SC, she was the daughter of Hugh B. Hamilton, Jr. (Suzanne) and Charlotte J. Watson (Michael).

Liza was a graduate of Eastside High School, Taylors SC Class of 1983 and the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC Class of 1988 where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. While attending USC, she worked as a Page in the State House and later in the Governor’s Office under Governor Carroll A. Campbell, Jr. Liza was passionate about politics and took great pleasure in discussing or debating your viewpoint. She was competitive as well as compassionate. She loved her children, her pets, her family and friends, her country and those who served to defend our great nation. Liza enjoyed helping others and for many years served as a Stephen Minister at First Presbyterian Church providing one-on-one, Christ-centered care to those experiencing challenging life situations. Liza loved everything about Fall. Football Season was her favorite season. Every Saturday she could be found cheering on her Carolina Gamecocks.

In addition to her parents, Liza is survived by her wonderful children Sam H. Bentley and Ellison L. Bentley, her brothers Erik Watson (Brandy), Scott Hamilton (Rachael) and Hugh Hamilton III, as well as her sister Amie H. Spitzer (Wayne). She is predeceased by her grandparents Dr. Hal Jameson, Christine C. Jameson, and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh B. Hamilton, Sr. (Lib), and her stepsister Elizabeth Watson.

A Memorial Service will be held on July 24th at 2:00pm in the Harper Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Washington St. Greenville, SC. Visitation will follow the service.

Private burial will take place in the Westview Cemetery, Easley, SC

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation at 1702 E. Highland Ave. Suite 400, Phoenix, AZ 85016.
