Elizabeth Hayes Brown, 92, of Dacusville, wife of the late Ernest Wayne Brown, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 in Columbia.

Born February 28, 1918 in Pickens County, the second of seven children of the late John Richard and Ollie Jane Lesley Hayes, she grew up in the Griffin Community in Pickens County. She married Ernest Wayne Brown in 1942 and moved to Dacusville, where she lived for over 60 years. Mrs. Brown was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and the WMU. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker, a very talented quilter and an avid gardener.

Surviving are a son, Tony Brown (Dianne) of Columbia; two daughters, Wilma Elaine Brown of Greenville, and Elizabeth Ann Harrell (Reginald) of Easton, MD; a sister, Mae Durham of Liberty, and three grandchildren, Cheryl Britton Brown of Greenville, Ernest Westfield Brown of Charleston and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Harrell of Easton, MD.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Brown was predeceased by four brothers, Rev. Paul, Allen, Bennett and Leo Hayes and by a sister, Ressie Smith.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church, prior to the service.

The family is at the home.
