Elizabeth Sitton “Liza” Byars, 69, of Central, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023.

Born in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Cephas Addison Sitton, Jr. and Agnes Donnald Sitton.

Liza was a 1972 graduate of Easley High School. She attended Anderson University and received her bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and her master’s degree from Furman University. She retired as a teacher from Forest Acres Elementary School after 30-plus years of dedicated service to her students. She loved spending time at the coast with her family and friends and listening to Jimmy Buffett's music.

Surviving is her husband of 40 years, David Hall Byars; her son, Charles David Byars of Easley; and her sister, Katherine Sitton West (Van) of Ruckersville, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Susan Sitton Winslett; and her brother, Cephas Addison Sitton, III.

A service to celebrate Liza’s life will be 3:00 PM Monday, November 27, 2023, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Immediately following the service, there will be a gathering at Liza’s home for friends and family.
