Mrs. Elizabeth Massey Gage, wife of the late Gaston Gage Jr., passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Born on October 18, 1932 in Laurens, SC, she was a daughter of the late Larry Massey and Grace Young Massey.
Elizabeth spent her career as a beloved first grade teacher at Central Elementary in Central, SC. She was a dedicated member of Ft. Hill Presbyterian Church, a member of the Clemson Women's Group, and the Clemson Gardening Club, she enjoyed reading, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Ruth Knox, and her son-in-law Pete Crowther; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Geib (Michael, Gaston Knox (Austin), Gage Knox (Brynn), Jake Crowther (Sarah), Grace Gage (Anthony); and her great-grandchildren, Oscar, Crawford, Miller, Jax Gaham, Briggs, Dylan, and Adah Jane.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth "Libby" Crowther, and her son-in-law Roger Knox.
The family would like to thank all of those who looked after in assisted living, and Katie Gilstrap, her caregiver and friend.
A memorial service in honor of Elizabeth will be held Monday, September 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Ft. Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson, SC. Burial will follow the service at Old Stone Church Cemetery, also in Clemson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fort Hill Presbyterian Church.
