Elizabeth (Lib) Huffman McConnell, 91, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Foothills Presbyterian Home.
Mrs. McConnell was born on October 19, 1921 in Greenville, to the late James L. and Ollie Stephens Huffman. She was married to the late T.D. (Jack) McConnell for 54 years. When the youngest of her three children entered grade school, she entered Furman University to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a school teacher. After graduating with honors with a B.A. Degree in Elementary Education from Furman University in 1966, she taught at Dacusville School for twenty years. She had a very happy and fulfilling career and she loved and cared for all of the students she was privileged to teach. She was a member of Woodside Baptist Church in Greenville.
She is survived by two sons, Richard McConnell (Gail), and Roger McConnell (Susan), all of Dacusville; a daughter, Songia Hunt (Henry) of Easley; four brothers, Sam Huffman, Harold Huffman (Jo), Bill Huffman (Betty), and Joe Huffman (Sarah); one sister, Mildred Howard; two grandchildren, Leah Gannon (Brian) and Luke McConnell (Michelle); and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Will Gannon. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McConnell was predeceased by her brother, James and his wife, Ellen; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Huffman; and a brother-in-law, Louis Howard.
A funeral service to honor and remember her will be 4:15 PM Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Jones Hill Church of God in Dacusville with the Reverend Gordon Hager officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 3:00 to 4:00 PM prior to the service.

Family members are at their respective residences.
The family would like to thank the kind people at The Willows of Easley, The Magnolias of Easley, The Foothills Retirement Community (Presbyterian Home), and Lutheran Hospice for the love and care that Lib received during the last seven years of her life. Her health was declining, but her love of people grew with each new person she met.
