John Elmer Crowe
--Easley
Mr. John Elmer Crowe, 91, of 300 Highland Rd, husband of the late Frances Nix Crowe passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born September 24, 1920 in Oconee County, he was the son of the late John and Ella Taylor Crowe. Mr. Crowe was a US Army veteran serving during WWII and received the Purple Heart. He retired from Rhodes Furniture and Mutual Home Store with 50 years of combined service. Mr. Crowe was a former President of the Easley Uptown Merchants Associations and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his son, J. Steve Crowe (Teresa); grandchildren, Kevin Crowe (Kim) and Kala Crowe; and great-grandchildren, Greyson, Campbell and Weston Crowe.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Olin Crowe; sisters, Ressie Nix and Christine Towe.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
Honorary escorts will be the Disciples of Christ Sunday School Class.
