Elva Mae Cook Hoover, 92, wife of Fred W. Hoover, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at Brookdale in Central.
Born in Opdyke, Illinois, Mrs. Hoover was the daughter of the late Curtis and Inez Mobley Cook. She was a homemaker and a member of Clemson United Methodist Church. Prior to her marriage she worked with the US Navy Department in Washington, DC. She was a loyal Clemson wife and mother and traveled with her husband, "Doc" Hoover and the Clemson athletic teams to many bowl games, basketball tournaments, track meets and most sports activities until Fred's retirement in 2000. She was an avid reader, loved playing bridge, loved animals and was a member of the Clemson Women's Club.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her son, Bryan Hoover and wife, Melissa of Seneca; daughter, Catherine Hoover Cole of Midland, GA; grandson, Andrew Bryan Cole and wife Allison of Columbus, GA; and her beloved puppy, Lady.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Conrad Cook; and sisters Mildred Songdahl and Carol Lerch.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Tuesday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodland Cemetery on the campus of Clemson University.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:50 PM, Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
