Elwyn Ernest Kennedy Jr.

Elwyn Ernest Kennedy Jr., lovingly known as “Buster,” passed away on April 14, 2026, at the age of 74.

Born on July 2, 1951, in Greer, South Carolina, Buster was the son of the late Elwyn Ernest Kennedy Sr. and Betty Kennedy. He was a man of many talents and passions. Buster enjoyed playing the guitar, writing, creating art, and growing orchids. He had a deep appreciation for nature and especially loved watching the birds that visited his backyard. Buster will be remembered for his kindness and gentle spirit.

Buster was known as “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren: Meredith Coyne Trapp (Dylan), Patrick Coyne, Savannah Coyne (Preston), Keller Campbell, Danley Campbell, McKenzee Campbell, and Lilah Grace Campbell. He was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Sunny James Trapp.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sherri Garrett Kennedy; his daughter, Jennifer Campbell Coyne (David); and his sisters, Laura Kennedy Aiken (Chris) and Vicki Kennedy. He is also survived by his nephew, James Aiken (Callie), and his great-niece, Perry Claire Aiken.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Campbell.

The family will receive friends at 10:30 A.M., followed by a memorial service at 11:30 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC, 200 West Washington St.
