Emily Smith Acker, 87, of 323 St. Paul Road, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late John Wilmer and Margie Ellison Smith, Mrs. Acker was the bookkeeper for Townsend Pontiac Cadillac Company for fourty-three years and a member of First Baptist Church, Easley, where she belonged to the Philathea Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her husband of sixty-eight years, Sid F. Acker, Sr., of the home; a son Sid F. "Skip" Acker of Hilton Head; a grandson and granddaughter, and a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Acker was predeceased by a brother, Carl Smith and by three sisters, Willie Brown, Helen Smith and Sara Smith.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Easley, with Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating.
The Philathea Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escorts.
The family will receive friends in the church narthex immediately following the service.
A private committal service will be held Tuesday morning.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, 300 East First Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.
The family is at the residence.
