Eric passed from this earth peacefully in his sleep after losing his long battle with serious health issues. He lived most of his life in Clemson and attended Daniel H.S. and earned a B.S. degree in art from Clemson University. He had many interests and was a highly intelligent and gifted person with the soul of an artist. He was an avid reader, lover of concerts, plays, and all manner of the arts. Eric also possessed a very kind heart and the willingness to help other people in need. He loved nature and animals, especially dogs. He leaves behind grieving parents, Doug Carlson and Linda Abbott, a younger brother Matt, grandfather Bill Abbott and many other extended family members, friends, and a loyal dog, Lola. Eric was predeceased by his fiancée and love of his life, Tracy, who recently passed away from her own health issues. For many months Eric was a devoted caregiver to Tracy. Eric will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
