Erma Calhoon Baker, widow of Allen L. Baker, died February 27, 2008 at Foothills Assisted Living Center in West Union, SC. Born in Malette, South Dakota in 1919, she was the daughter of the late Rev. George and Ina Calhoon. A lifetime member of the Wesleyan Church, she was active in the church choir, Thursday Morning Bible Study Fellowship, and Best Years Fellowship of Central First Wesleyan Church, Central SC.
Survivors: sons, David Baker and his wife Lea of Port Angeles, WA, Wayne Baker and his wife Linda of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter, Barbara Baker Bross and her husband James B. Bross of Central; brother, Rev. Arthur Calhoon of Anderson, SC; sister, Zenabelle Phillippi of Brooksville, FL; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers.
A nemorial service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 3:30pm at Central First Wesleyan Church. The family will receive friends preceding the service from 2:00-3:15pm in the Fellowship Hall of Central First Wesleyan.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Allen & Erma Baker Scholarship Fund at Southern Wesleyan University, PO Box 1020, Central, SC 29630. Special thanks to Foothills Assisted Living Center in West Union for their loving care of Mrs. Baker this past year.
The family is at the home of the daughter, Barbara B. Bross, 232 Thomas Lane, Central, SC 29630.
