Ernest C. "Butter" McAlister, Jr. 77, of 464 Gassaway Street, died Wednesday at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Nannie Thompson and Ernest C. McAlister Sr. He was the long-time owner and operator of McAlister's Market in Central, a Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Kings Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Grace Cantrell McAlister of the home; sons, Ernest Paul McAlister (Mary Pat) of Central; Gary Dean McAlister of Atlanta, GA, and Eddie Eugene McAlister of Marietta, SC; daughter, Karen Dixon (Jimmy) of Central; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Saturday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home by Revs. Chris Gray and Jeremy Merck with entombment to follow in Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Friday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kings Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 1335 Old Seneca Road, Central, SC 29630.
The family is at the home Karen and Jimmy Dixon, 317 Gassaway Street, Central, SC 29630.
