Essie M. Phillips, 78, of Powdersville, wife to the late Donald Ray Phillips, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after a year long battle with cancer on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Archie McKee and the late Mabel Brooks McKee. Essie retired from Lucas Industries. She was a devout born again Christian and a cherished member of Agnew Road Church of God.
Surviving are her two sons, Rick Tate of Easley and Steve Tate of Greenville ; three sisters, Frances Sargent of Simpsonville, Martha Long of Powdersville and Barbara Oates of Easley; brothers, Winslow McKee of Clemson, Roy McKee of Mauldin and Randell McKee of Easley; grandchildren, Teilah Tate of Easley and Kimberly Wilson (Brad) of Pickens; and great-grandchildren, Brendan Wilson, Jeremiah Wilson, and Harlyn Wilson, all of Pickens.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers, William A. McKee and Joe McKee.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Receiving of friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the fifth floor of Saint Francis Hospital - Downtown, for their exceptional care of Ms. Phillips.
The family will be at the home of Mr. Rick Tate.
