Bertha Etta Vaughn White, age 73, of Piedmont, passed peacefully Tuesday, September 6, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Born in Greenville County, Mrs. White was the daughter of the late Thomas Gentry Vaughn and Bertha A. McNeely Vaughn.
She was a loving and devoted wife for 55 years to her husband, David White, and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother for her family.
Mrs. White was a member of The Carpenter's House Church, formerly McNeely PH Church, in Piedmont for 60 years. She was a friend to many, an amazing cook, and loved the Atlanta Braves and Clemson Tigers.
She retired after many years working for Margaret L. Wyatt, M.D. and the Greenville Health System.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Clyde Ward and her sister, Gloria Ward Johnson.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband; daughters, Cindy White Baldwin (Flint) and Jill White Altland (Carl); sisters, Tommie Vaughn Riddle (Wayne) and Doris Ward Waldrop; grandchildren, Lauren Baldwin Ford (Will), Lindsay Baldwin, and Josh Wilson; one great-granddaughter on the way; special friends of 55 years, Carolyn Reeves, Gayle Payne, and Wanda Gahm.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, September 9, 2016 at The Carpenter's House Church, 3213 River Rd, Piedmont, SC 29673, with Pastor Chris Lee and Rev. Ross White officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
