Eugene Holland Bedenbaugh

June 4, 1935 — February 16, 2016

Eugene “Gene” Holland Bedenbaugh, 80, of Easley, passed peacefully in his home Tuesday, February 16, 2016, and was the husband to Mary Helen Jackson Bedenbaugh of the home.



 



Born in Newberry County, SC June 4, 1935 to the late Jefferson Holland and Beryl Grace Holcombe Bedenbaugh. He started his path through serving his community by serving in the SC National Guard as a young man.



 



Gene earned a degree from Columbia Commercial College before earning a BA degree from USC and earning a Seminary degree in Christian Education from Emory University.   He was a United Methodist Minister who served his community through Northside UMC, Berea UMC, Trinity UMC, and most recently Laurens Road UMC.



 



He had an interest in antiques and was the owner of Memory Shop Antiques on Augusta Road in Greenville.



 



Gene is survived by loving wife, Mary Helen Jackson Bedenbaugh; three daughters, Debra B. Dawkins (Van), Nancy B. Hughes (Chuck), and Janet B. Keen (Paul) all of Powdersville, SC; brother, Dr. John H. Bedenbaugh of Hattiesburg, MS; sister, Adele Kirby of Timmonsville, SC; eight grandchildren, Jefferson Maclendon Dawkins, Jackson Holland Dawkins, Lauren Alexia Hughes, Victoria Lander Hughes, Hayli Savanna Hughes, Ryan Hunter Hughes, Devyn Samantha Keen, and Michael Benjamin Keen.



 



Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, February 19th at 3:00PM in Laurens Road United Methodist Church, 13 Webster Road, Greenville, SC 29607 with Rev. Laura Bratton and Rev. Dr. John Miller officiating.   Interment will be privately held by family in Robinson Memorial Gardens in Easley, SC.Family will receive friends at the church immediately following the Celebration of Life service from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.



 



Flowers are welcomed, and family has requested donations be made directly to Laurens Road UMC, 13 Webster Road, Greenville, SC 29607.Condolences may be expressed online at www. robinsonfuneralhomes.com or in person at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road, which is assisting the family.
