Eugene Huddleston "Gene" Howe, Jr., 54, of 103 Broad Street and husband of Elizabeth "Beth" Mitchell Howe, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at his home.
Born in Birmingham, AL, he was a son of the late Dr. Eugene H. Howe, Sr. and Katherine Thweatt Howe. He was a graduate of Furman University and earned his Masters from Winthrop University. He taught and coached football at McCormick, York and most recently at Pendleton High School. He was a member and sunday school teacher at Pendleton United Methodist Church and formerly at Adnah United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, SC.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kathryn Howe of the home; sisters, Kay Allen of Clarkesdale, MS, Suzanne Beck of Birmingham, AL and Callie Grissett of Fairhope, AL.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Wednesday at Pendleton United Methodist Church with the family recieving friends immediately following the service at the church.
A graveside committal service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday at Adnah United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rock Hill, SC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Adnah United Methodist Church, 1 Adnah Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29732, Pendleton United Methodist Church P.O. Box 646, Pendleton, SC 29670 or to Foothills Salkehatchie, Howe Memorial, P.O. Box 646, Pendleton, SC 29670.
