Eugene (Gene) Eddie Riggins, 78, of 103 Grigsby Avenue, died suddenly Monday, December 8, 2008.
Born in Liberty, Mr. Riggins was a son of the late Bruce Eddie and Inez Chapman Riggins. He was the owner of Riggins Plumbing, Electrical and Heating. Mr. Riggins was a member of First Baptist Church where he belonged to the McCall Sunday School Class. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Bates Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-eight years, Betty Jean Lankford Riggins, of the home; two daughters, Fran Riggins Cape and her husband, Stan, and Reggia Riggins Stapleton and her husband, David, all of Easley; one brother, Ralph Riggins, of Easley; two sisters, Catherine Young and Juanita Gossett, both of Easley; and four grandchildren, Wynn Laffey, Philip Laffey, Ben Stapleton and Leah Stapleton. Mr. Riggins was predeceased by a brother, Clifford Riggins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from Noon to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John T. Simpson Alternative Center for Education, 200 West D Avenue, Easley, SC 29640 or to First Baptist Church, 300 East First Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.
The family is at the home.
