Eugene J. Schoffstall

Eugene J. Schoffstall, 86, of Easley, passed away October 10, 2017.

Born in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of the late Robert Charles and Jenny Rebecca Mengle Schoffstall. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Edith S. Schoffstall.

Gene proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He retired after 21 years of service with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He was a flight engineer who served during the Korean Conflict and a tour in Vietnam. For his sustained acts of bravery and meritorious service he was awarded 2 Air Force Commendation Medals.

After his military career, Gene worked with GBS Lumber for 15 years.

Surviving are his three children, Karen Fisher, of Easley; Valerie (Lou) Goecker, of Greenville; and David (Panzy) Schoffstall, of Powdersville; a brother, Ernie Schoffstall, of Portland, OR; five grandchildren, Kyle DeWitt(Michelle); Matthew DeWitt(Katherine); Jennifer Fisher; Sarah Schoffstall; and Emily Schoffstall; and two great grandchildren, Caleb and Gabriel DeWitt.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Powdersville Road. Burial with full military honors will take place in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 2:00 - 2:45pm at the funeral home.
