Evelyn Faye McIntyre Lesley, 83, of 415 Pelzer Highway, died Monday, November 14, 2011. She was the widow of Theron Victor Lesley.
Born in Greenville County, she was the youngest child of Charlie Phillip McIntyre and Annie Lou Hopkins McIntyre. Mrs. Lesley graduated from Parker High School in 1945 and began a career in bookkeeping at Walgreens Drug Store in downtown Greenville. She married Theron on November 5, 1948. In 1949, they had a daughter, Vicki, and in 1951, a son, Sidney. Their family was complete. Theron built their first house on Zion Church Road where they lived until the summer of 1964.
Mrs. Lesley continued her bookkeeping career in Easley working for Fairlane Finance, Ellenburg Enterprises, Lesley Construction, and, most recently, Easley Mechanical. She retired in 1998.
She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where she served as church treasurer for over 30 years. Mrs. Lesley also devoted many years of loving care to the children of the church by keeping the nursery which was dedicated to her honor in July of 2010. Until her declining health, she was active in the United Methodist Women as well as all aspects of church life. She was dedicated to and loved Zion.
Mrs. Lesley also believed in supporting her community. She served as a faithful substitute for delivering Meals on Wheels in the Easley area.
Surviving are a daughter, Vicki Oxendine and her husband, Monty; a son, Sidney Lesley and his wife, Barbara; a granddaughter, Carrie and her husband, Dr. James Botts; a great-grandson, Ryan Mannon and a great-granddaughter, Kylie Botts, all of Easley. She is also survived by her sister, Edna Pryor of Greenville. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Carl, Theodore, and Charles McIntyre and by a great-grandson, Corbin Botts.
Funeral services will be held at Zion United Methodist Church, 432 Zion Church Road, Easley, SC on Friday, November 18, at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:20 PM at the church prior to the service.
The family will be at 415 Pelzer Highway, Easley, SC on Thursday, November 17, and on Friday, November 18, prior to the service.
The family wishes to express its appreciation to the staffs of Magnolias of Easley and Hospice of the Upstate for their loving care for Mrs. Lesley during the past three months.
Special gratitude is also given to Dr. David Chang for his nurturing and professional care for the past ten years.
