Evelyn Putman Lewis

Evelyn Putman Lewis, 95, of Clemson died Sunday, March 4th. She is preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Lewis.
Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Claude Farrow and Tommie Chiles Putman. A graduate of Furman University, she also did graduate work at the University of Tennessee, where she met her future husband. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clemson for more than 65 years. Stubborn and tough, and yet charming and beautiful, having survived multiple surgeries and almost fifty years as the wife of an engineer, she enjoyed travelling, needlepoint, reading, bridge, and especially candy.
Surviving are her son, Dodge Putman Lewis and wife Chloe Greene Lewis of Atlanta, GA; daughter Farrow Lewis Herold and husband Tom Herold of Dallas; and sister, Helen Jones of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her other sister, Sarah Baumgardner.
Graveside services will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday at Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson, SC.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Tues at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC.
