Evelyn Bagwell McEntyre, 93, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away on January 30th, 2024 in Mauldin, SC.
Family meant everything to Evelyn, and her life was filled with love. She shared an incredible bond with her late husband of 73 years, Verlon “Mack” McEntyre. Their enduring love served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Evelyn is survived by her loving children Joyce (Morgan) Stokely of Columbia, Kathy (Jim) Campbell of Easley, and Sam (Lesa) McEntyre of Powdersville; as well as six grandchildren Jamie Campbell Linker, Wesley Bruce Campbell, George Robinson Stokely, Elizabeth Stokely Haile, Samantha McEntyre White, and Chandler Scott McEntyre. She also had eight great-grandchildren who were deeply blessed to have had such doting great-grandparents be apart of their lives.
Born and raised in Easley, SC, Evelyn was the oldest child of the late Bruce and Maude Bagwell. She was very close to her brothers, Larry, Charles and Bobby Bagwell, who preceded her in death.
Evelyn enjoyed a career in Banking for 35 years . She was originally employed by the local Carolina National Bank which merged several times and finally became Bank of America. She retired from there in 1990. She did not stay retired for long and at the urging of her daughter started a second career joining her in the design field for several years!
Evelyn enjoyed her life to the fullest! She loved to laugh and have a good time with friends and family. She loved her Music and you could always find her on the dance floor at fun events.
She loved her Lord and loved Easley First Baptist Church ,where she a member for 64 years. She served on various church committees, sang in the Sanctuary Choir and taught Sunday School in the children’s department for many years!
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, February 8th, 2024 at Easley First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 AM until 12:25 PM.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff of National Health Care Mauldin and Caris Hospice for giving such tender love and care! Alice Green was a special caretaker and friend who always looked out for Evelyn.
