Evelyn Thorne Rogers, 92, wife of the late Hilton V. Rogers, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Rogers was born in Spartanburg County and was the daughter of the late Shuford E. and Emmer Ezell Thorne. She received her undergraduate degree from Converse College and her masters from Clemson University. She taught school in Pickens County for twenty-nine years and was a member of Clemson First Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Edwin B. Rogers of Swannanoa, NC; two daughters, Helen (Betsy) Grewe of West Union and Nancy (Glenn) Bottoms of Boiling Springs, NC; four grandchildren, Christine Robinson, Debbie Ritter, Ary (Sheryl) Bottoms, Alex (Heather Harlos) Grewe; four great grandchildren, Ebony Wilson, Jamie Mayo, Ira and Carolynn Bottoms; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Marcelle) Rogers, David (Betty) Rogers, Melvin (Emilie) Rogers, Doris Thorne and Nellie Armstrong.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by, a brother Charles Thorne, a sister, Bonnie Jean Cole; brother and sister-in-laws, Edna and Bud Scruggs, Clellen Thorne and Charles Armstrong; great grandson, Spencer Ritter.

A committal service will be held at 12:30 PM Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Woodland Cemetery, Clemson.

Memorial services will at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central and the family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend thanks to her special friend and caregiver Michel Vandiver, and to her caregiver Shawn Wardlaw.
