Evelyn Nicholson Gantt Watson, 86, of 110 Willow Place, #300, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.
Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late William Pack "Bill" and Ollie Belue Nicholson. She was a graduate of Liberty High School and worked as a cloth clerk at Mayfair Mills, Glenwood Division for 43 years. Mrs. Watson was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church, the Sarah Smith Sunday School Class, and the Sanctuary Choir.
Evelyn was an extremely devoted family member whose first priorities were her church, her family, and her friends. She was enthusiastic about being a contributor and assisting those who were less fortunate. She particularly enjoyed her many hours as a hospital volunteer where she was chosen by her fellow volunteers as Volunteer of the Year for two years at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley. Evelyn spent her last one and a half years in independent living at the Commons at The Willows. She was very happy there with her friends and was always excited about their companionship, socials, outings and the personal concern shown by the staff.
Surviving are two sons, Nick Gantt and wife Lynn of Atlanta, Ben Gantt and wife Paula of Greenville; a daughter, Ann Hartley and husband Carroll of Atlanta; a step-son, Don Watson and wife Barbara of Dallas, TX; four brothers, Rev. Harold Nicholson and wife Margaret, Rev. Joe Nicholson and wife Ann, Jack Nicholson and wife Carol, all of Easley, Marvin Nicholson and wife Evelyn of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Brett Hartley and wife Kimberly, Ashley Gantt and wife Candace, Allison Hollingshead and husband Charlie, all of Atlanta, Kelli Frazier and husband Jason of Greenville; and seven great-grandchildren, Casey and Noah Frazier, Devin and Cassidy Hartley, Will and Morgan Gantt, and Blakely Hollingshead. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two husbands, Clarence E. Gantt and Felix A. Watson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home Downtown with Reverend Barry Dilworth officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Thursday night from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
