F. Christopher Alley

Dr. Forrest Christopher Alley, 82, of 1013 Keystone Lane and husband of Nancy Brown Alley, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at the CARC Health Care Center.
Born in Tuskegee, AL, he was a son of the late Hurt Erasmus and Nelle Abney Alley. Dr. Alley retired in 1989 as professor of Chemical Engineering at Clemson University where he taught for 31 years. He earned his bachelors and masters degrees from Auburn University and his PhD from UNC-Chapel Hill and also attended N.Y. University. He was a USAir Force veteran of The Korean War and a member of Clemson United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Steve Alley and wife, Jeannie of Clemson and David Alley and wife, Cheryl of Fort Mill, SC; daughter Eileen Long and husband, Ken of Greenville, SC; brother Guy Alley of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren, Christopher Alley and wife Carie, Katy Alley, and Sophie Alley; and great-grandchildren, Sutton and Caroline Alley.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Memorial services will be 11 AM, Thursday at Clemson United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Ray officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
A private committal service will be held prior to the service at Woodland Cemetery on the campus of Clemson University.
The family will be at 500 Shorecrest Drive, Clemson, SC 29631.
