Flaura Pilgrim Parrott, 97, of Easley, wife of the late Frank B. Parrott, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born December 8, 1915 in the Praters Creek Community of Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late John Seaborn and Jettie Shirley Pilgrim. Mrs. Parrott attended Winthrop University and then received her teaching degree in 1938. She taught at Dayton Elementary School, and later joined her husband as owner and operator of a grocery store in Liberty and later Easley, and also Nu-Way Cleaners and Laundry in Easley. She was a volunteer at Baptist Easley Hospital, had a passion for gardening and was an excellent homemaker and cook. In fact her yard was a showcase and was chosen twice as "Yard of the Month." Mrs. Parrott was a longtime member at Rock Springs Baptist Church and the Ida Looper Bible Fellowship Class and a past member of Easley First Baptist Church where she was active in the youth ministries in both churches. Her family will always have wonderful memories of family meals prepared by her.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Patricia Mann Parrott, of Easley; three grandchildren, Timothy F. Parrott, Donna P. Tomlinson and her husband, Al, and Rebekah E. Parrott Martin and her husband, Andy; and four great-grandchildren, Mary Martin, Jacob Tomlinson, Katie Martin, and Zeke Tomlinson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Franklin Parrott in 1992.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with the Rev. Dr. David Gallamore, Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Escorts of Honor will be the Ida Looper Bible Fellowship Class, the Joy Bible Fellowship Class, and the Promise Bible Fellowship Class.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642.
