Flora D. King

Flora Day King, 97, formerly of Clemson and widow of Dr. Edwin Wallace King, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at Lila Doyle Nursing Facility at Oconee Medical Center in Seneca, SC.
Mrs. King was born in Lexington, VA, the daughter of the late Philip Baldwin and Ernestine Albery Day.
Mrs. King received her BS from William and Mary College and following Naval Service as a Lieutenant JG in WWII, she received her MS in chemistry from Virginia Tech. She was a chemist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture at Clemson University and a member of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Seneca, SC.
Surviving are two sons, Edwin Wallace (Edythe) King, Jr. of Savannah, GA and Philip Day (Lori) King of Cary, NC; grandchildren, Edythe Day King of Atlanta, GA; Elizabeth Monroe King of Washington, D.C., and Philip King, Cary, NC.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Old Stone Church Cemetery in Clemson, SC.
The family will greet friends following the service at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that remembrances be made to Lila Doyle at Oconee Medical Center, Seneca, SC.
