Florence Sage, 94, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2015 at the Pruitt Health Pickens Nursing Home in Six Mile, SC. She was survived by her daughters Wendy and Sandra and predeceased by her husband Henry, her sisters Lillian ("Tillie") and Frances, and by her daughter Kathy and Kathy's husband George.

Florence had a large family and many friends and acquaintances all of whom will remember her as generous, gregarious, and fun loving with a wicked sense of humor. She had three daughters, Wendy (Wight), Sandra (Colacino) and Kathy (Bocklage); seven grandchildren, Kelly, Scott and Lynn (Wendy), Hilary and Melissa (Sandra) and Michael and Andrea (Kathy); nine great grandchildren, Maria and Jackson (Kelly), Brennan (Scott), Steven, Paul and Danny (Lynn), Jason and Trey (Michael), and Riley (Andrea); and six great, great grandchildren, Alana and Gregory (Maria), Jayden (Steven) and Abigail, Grace and Lucy (Paul).

Florence was born May 18, 1921 to James and Florence Scidmore in Rochester, NY. She attended school in Rochester and Lake Pleasant, NY. She loved dancing, swimming and basketball throughout her youth. On November 8, 1941 she was married to Henry B. Sage in Webster, NY. Henry served stateside in WWII as an Army Master Supply Sergeant from 1943 to 1945. He died on May 21, 1984. Five years following the death of her husband, Florence met Gino Valvasori of Grimsby, Ontario, who was her companion until the time of his death in 2006.

Florence was a professional hairdresser and plied her trade for over 50 years. She and Henry owned and ran a restaurant in Speculator in the 1950's. They then owned and ran Viking Gate, a tourist lodge in Speculator, in the late 1950's. During that time Henry also managed the Oneida Market and Florence ran in-house hairdressing studios.

A long-time resident of New York State, she lived at various times in Rochester, Webster, Irondequoit, Hilton, Speculator, Palmyra, Bushnell's Basin, Naples and Wayland. She and Henry also spent ten years living and working in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona. In 2007 she moved south to live with her daughters Wendy, Sandra and Kathy in South Carolina. She entered the Pruitt Health Pickens Nursing Home in March 2014 where she resided until her death.

An interment service will be held at White Haven Memorial Gardens, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY 14534, on Saturday September 12, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Family and friends will gather at the entrance between 10:00 and 10:30 AM.
