Frances B. Armitage

Frances B. Armitage, 99, of Greenville, formerly of Clemson, wife to the late Stanley Carroll Armitage, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025.

Born in Biscoe, NC, she was the daughter of the late Newton Branch and Ethel Talton Branch. She graduated from the Rex School of Nursing in Raleigh, NC and later was an LPN instructor. Frances loved sports, especially Clemson athletics and later in life found joy in watching PGA events. She also enjoyed spending time at the family beach house in Emerald Isle, NC. Mrs. Armitage was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church for over 40 years, where she served in various ministries.

Frances is survived by her children, David S. Armitage (Brenda) of Chester, VA, Carol W. Czumak (Walt) of Easley, James A. Armitage (Jean) of Clemson, and Jane A. Guthrie (Kent) of Greenville; grandchildren, Seth Walton (Kirsten), Laura Adair (Roby), Melissa Guthrie (Lawrence Lippard), Lee Armitage (Natasha), Burke Armitage (Barbara), and Stuart Guthrie (Jillian); great-grandchildren, Walt Adair, Caroline Adair, Luka Hershey, Emma Armitage, Audrey Walton, Cecilia Walton, Louise Walton, George Walton, Nora Guthrie, Edna Armitage, and Brynn Lippard.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 209 Sloan Street, Clemson, SC 29631.

A memorial mass will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with burial to follow at Old Stone Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of The Willows of Easley, Oakview Park Senior Living, and Hospice of the Upstate for their compassionate care over the last seven years.
