Frances N. Hammond, 96, wife of the late Alvin C. Hammond, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, April 15, 2024.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late J. Cephas. "J.C." and Lucy Davis Newton.
Frances dedicated many years of her life to the noble role of a mother before joining Pratt Reed in Central. Described as a loving Christian woman, Frances had a heartwarming presence that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of meeting her. Her hobbies included gardening, canning and freezing the fruits and vegetables that she grew. She shared her vegetables with her family and friends. Above all else, Frances cherished her family. She loved cooking for her family and later cooking at Western Sizzlin' in Clemson and Seneca.
Frances is survived by her children Eddie Hammond (Becky) of Cookville, TN; her daughter Connie H. Curtis (Tom) of Seneca; daughter-in-law Evelyn A. Hammond of Blue Ridge, GA; her sister-in-law JoAnn Newton of Easley; her grandchildren, Jonathan Hammond (Brenda), Melissa Hammond, Stephanie H. Patterson (Adrian); Danny Lewis Hammond Jr.; Valerie C. Lecher (Matt); Tara C Palacio; Kevin Smith; and John Chandler (Megan); along with 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of over 50 years, and her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her son Danny Lewis Hammond Sr., her Sister Elizabeth N. Webb (Paul); and her brothers Benjamin Newton, and George Issac Newton (Jonell).
A Visitation for Frances will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
A graveside service for Frances will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 1:00 at Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church, 2101 6 Mile Hwy, Central, SC 29630.
