Frances Louise Henderson

Frances Louise Henderson, age 94, died on August 14, 2024. Frances was born September 17, 1929 in McMinn County.

Family and friends were Frances’ passion. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers for years. On March 15, 1945, she married Bob Henderson who operated heavy equipment most all his life. She worked at Eureka Garment Factory in Englewood for 18 years.

In addition to raising their three daughters, Bobbie, Brenda, and Trease and following them all over East Tennessee watching them play basketball and softball, she also practically raised her grandchildren, Todd, Candy, and Nathan, while their parents worked. Frances was a member of First Baptist Church in Englewood and was truly blessed to have so many close friends who she treasured. She taught the 3-4 year old Sunday School Class for many years. Her friends at First Baptist were truly special to her. She loved the “Over 55ers” activies but most of all she delighted in aggravating Pastor Russ Maples.

Frances is survived by two of her three daughters and their husbands, Bobbie and Jim Davis of Clemson, SC, and Trease and George Koertge of Mesa, AZ; her grandchildren, Todd and Rhonda Davis of Evans, GA, Candy and Robert Burke of Vonroe, Nathan and Amanda Watts of Athens and Leigh Sweeton. Her “great” grandchildren Ashleigh Sweeton, Morgane Harper, Michael Lowe and Kai Burke, Ansleigh and Jake Davis, Matalie Regan Watts, Serenity Leigh Veals, Mackenzie and Koi Veals; and brother, Ronnie Garrett of Coker Creek, TN, and numerous loving relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bob Henderson, her daughter Brenda Wankan and son-in-law Barry Wankan of Riceville, TN. Her father and mother, Alger and Pearl Garrett of Madisonville, TN, brothers, J.C. Garrett of Cleveland, TN, Ralph Garrett of Ocala, FL, Homer Garrett of Englewood, TN, Herman Garrett of Eastpointe, MI, Clifford Garrett of Englewood, TN, Carl Garrett of Madisonville, TN, Bobby Glen Garrett of Montgomery, AL, and sisters, Virginia Aderhold Lewis and Helen Carpenter both of Etowah, TN, and granddaughter, Leigh Sweeton of Athens, TN.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 PM and celebration of life to follow at First Baptist Church in Englewood, TN.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Children’s Program - First Baptist Church, 13 Church Street, Englewood, TN 37329.

A special thank you to the administration and staff of The Residences at Park Place in Seneca, SC.
