Frances Isabel Carey Mason, wife of Robert H. Mason, died October 20, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born October 29, 1922 in Clemson, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Robert Cleveland Carey and Mamie Belle Smith. Mrs. Mason was a graduate of Calhoun Clemson High School and attended Coker College in Hartsville, SC. She lived many years in the lower part of S.C. and worked in banks in Clemson, Union, Camden and Cheraw. Frances was head bookkeeper at South Carolina National Bank (now Wachovia) in Cheraw where she retired on December 31, 1984 and moved with her husband to the Clemson-Central area where she was raised. She was a member of Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, Robert H. Mason, she is survived by a daughter, Catherine Maria Mason of Fletcher, NC and a sister, Dorothy G. Ensor of Greenville, SC.
Her effervescent personality, love of children, wonderful smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed by her family, church and many friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2pm at Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church, 2101 Six Mile Highway, Central, SC 29630.
