Frances Key Owens, born July 2, 1941, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, surrounded by her family. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Furman Dewitt and Lena Elizabeth Hunter Key. Frances was a 1959 graduate of Parker High School. She was a life-long member of Brandon Baptist Church, Greenville and attended Siloam Baptist Church, Powdersville. She was a passionate reader, a gifted basketmaker, and a loving wife, mother, and friend. Nothing brought her greater joy than sharing laughter with her friends and family. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her son, Scott David Owens and brother, Theodore “Ted” D. Key. Frances is survived by her husband of 51 years, David Lee Owens; daughter, Jennifer E. Owens (Carter Lawson); brother, Edward “Gene” E. Key (Joyce); sister-in-law, Elaine Key; grandchildren, Charlotte and Madeleine Lawson; and her constant canine companion, Aussie. The family would like to thank the many nurses and caregivers who cared for her. Their kindness and compassion were a comfort not just to Frances, but her entire family. Family will receive friends Friday, December 4th from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Robinson Funeral Homes – Powdersville Road. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Clyde Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Greenville.
