Frances Stephenson Snipes, 89, widow of David "Doc" Snipes died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Clemson Downs.
Born in Angier, NC, she was the daughter of the late Irving Joseph and Elbertine Patty Stephenson. Frances was a 1950 graduate of UNC Greensboro (formerly Women's College) and earned her Masters Degree from Furman University. She taught math at R. C. Edwards Junior High School and other local schools. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and a member of the Andrew Pickens Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mom loved life, her family and people generally. People loved Mom too for her kindness, generosity and boundless sense of humor. She had tremendous love for her devoted children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She was a woman of many talents: gifted singer, pianist and artist. She was a devoted teacher for 38 years.
Surviving are a son, Michael R. Snipes of Dallas, TX; daughters, Anne Snipes (Haig) Garabedian of Lake Wylie, SC, Joy Snipes Downes of Willow Spring, NC and Janice Patricia (Jeff Carpenter) Snipes of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Michael (Tamara) Snipes II, Katherine Camp Snipes, Kathryn Frances(Joe) Tomasino, Gwynne Elizabeth Noth, Mark James Noth, Michael Vahe Garabedian, Morgan Stephenson Snipes, Matthew James Noth and Elizabeth Anne Garabedian; great grandchild, Reagan Cassandra Snipes; niece, Ellen Stephenson; and nephew, Mark Stephenson.
Memorial services will be 1 PM, Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Church Street, Central, SC with Rev. Gene Aiken officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
A graveside inurnment will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday at Old Stone Church Cemetery.
