Mrs. Frances Duckworth Burgess Tompkins, age 91, loving wife of the late Joseph Fred Tompkins, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Heartland East in Greenville.
Frances was born in Pickens County on April 17, 1924 to the late George and Otis Burgess Duckworth. She retired from Swirl in Easley as a seamstress and in her free time enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and talking on the telephone. She loved her family, and would always make biscuits for them anytime they asked. She was a member of Trinity Way Baptist Church in Greenville.
Frances is survived by five sons; Jim Burgess (Janet) of Pickens, Charles Burgess (Hyon) of Crestview, Fla., Raymond Burgess (Heidi) of Liberty, KY, Bill Burgess (Shirley) of Pickens, and Tony Tompkins (Stacie) of Greenville; two daughters; Gaynelle Andrews of Fountain Inn, and Barbara Evans of Easley; and a sister; Ruby Simmons of Taylors. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband, and her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters; Betty Jo Tompkins and Shirley Bruce; three brothers; James Duckworth, Dewey Duckworth, and Edrew Duckworth; and a sister Ruth Barnett.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 14, 2015 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, 305 W. Main Street, Easley, SC 29640.
The family is at the residence.
