Frankie Witmer, 75, died surrounded by her loving family Sunday October 28, 2018 of heart failure. She was born in Chambersburg PA September 29, 1943, the daughter of Jackson E. and Hazel (Duncan) McCann and grew up in Abbeville SC. She was a 1961 graduate of Abbeville H.S. and a 1965 graduate of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, with a BS in Education.
She and her husband Thomas H. Witmer were married August 1965 and enjoyed 53 years of a wonderful life together. Frankie devoted herself to supporting Tom at home and rearing their two children, Thomas H. Jr. and Laura Susan. Frankie was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Parish, Clemson, SC and also a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plymouth, NH where they enjoyed a vacation home. She loved singing in both church choirs. The couple has been blessed with many good friends from their past residences in New Jersey, Houston, Corning NY, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Pittsburgh PA.
Frankie is survived by her husband, their son Tom, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Epping NH and their 2 children - Tyler 16, and Morgan 14; their daughter Laura Witmer of Mason OH and her significant other Patty Biltz and Laura's 5 children – twins Carter and Keaton 18, both currently attending The Ohio State University, Callie 17, and twins Clay and Emori 11; and her brother Ed McCann and his wife Connie of Seneca SC, and their children Matt and Allison and their families; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.
Frankie was a devoted Christian. She loved being with her children and grandchildren, traveling with Tom, attending Clemson football games, shopping and just relaxing in her home on Lake Keowee. She was a loving and enthusiastic friend to so many.
The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday November 16 at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday November 18 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Parish, 193 Old Greenville Hwy, Clemson, SC. Her ashes will be scattered in the Holy Trinity Memorial Garden after the service. A reception will follow for all.
