Francis "Frank" Marion Lindler, Jr., 79, of Pelzer, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Richard M. Campbell Nursing Veterans Center.

Mr. Lindler was born in Bamberg, a son of the late Dr. Francis Marion Lindler, Sr and the late Wilhelmina Sandifer Lindler. He was a 1964 graduate of the University of Nebraska. An Army veteran, Frank served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and retired as a Major after twenty years of service. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with OLC, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, and four O/S bars. Frank was editor of the newsletter for the 7th Field Artillery, a former employee of the Milligan-Monarch Mill and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Lila Mae Hand Lindler; children, William Dee Lindler (Sylvia), Shalla Humpheries (Robert), Thomas Lindler, Karen Simmons (Ray); 2 step-children, David Mullinax (Donna)and Ronald Mullinax (Becky); 2 sisters, Demetrius Hinnant (Dr. Charles Hinnant) and Leah Dorcus Oakley (Jimmy); 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer.

Visitation will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

Family members are at their respective homes.
