Dr. Frank Waters Paul, 74, of Seneca, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Paul was born, August, 28, 1938, in Jersey Shore, PA, the son of the late James Dewey and Elizabeth Waters Paul.

He earned his B. S. and M. S. degrees at Pennsylvania State University and his Ph.D. at Lehigh University in mechanical engineering.
He was a registered professional Engineer in the state of California, was a published author of over 100 engineering books and journal publications, was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Society of Engineering Education and a charter member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Robotics International. He held three granted patents related to unique designs of robotic end effectors, he was honored as a member of Pi Tau Sigma, Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi, Engineer Honor Society and Sigma Xi, Scientific Research Society. He was the McQueen Quattlebaum Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University and was a member of Masonic Lodge 232 in Jersey Shore, PA, and a member of University Lutheran Church in Clemson.

After his retirement, Frank persued his lifelong passion for fly fishing and bamboo rod making. He fished for trout on three continents and was deeply commited to the stewardship of the natural resources he enjoyed.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Gail Hart Paul; two sons, David Paul and his wife Angela of Pickens, and Douglas Paul and his wife Debbie of Seneca; four grandchildren, J. D., Sydney, Rachel, and Victoria Paul, and a step-grandson, Jordon Payne.

Memorial services will be Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 11 A. M. at University Lutheran Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central.
