Frank “Martin” Zipperer, 90, husband of the late Gladys Evelyn Powell Zipperer, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Born in Jennings, Florida, he was a son of the late Carley and Jewel Stalvey Zipperer. Following the passing of his mother during his childhood, he was lovingly raised by his stepmother, Laverne Zipperer. Martin will be remembered as a man of steady hands and enduring faith. He served in the Army, and that spirit of duty and commitment remained part of the way he lived his life. Martin was known as a “Mr. Fix-It-All,” a name that suited him well. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, building and fixing things, and reading, and he kept a large workshop full of tools that reflected both his skill and his readiness to help. For those who knew him, that workshop was more than a place of work; it was an expression of who he was—capable, thoughtful, and always prepared to put his hands to whatever needed doing. His life was also marked by deep devotion. He was married to his wife for 60 years, and he passed away about 50 days after her, a tender measure of a bond that endured across a lifetime. He was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where his faith was part of the quiet foundation of his days.
He is survived by two daughters, Theresa Haygood (Gary), and Janice Hastings (Jimmy); four grandchildren, Jeremy Haygood (Mallory), Zack Haygood (Katie), Adam Hastings (Erica), and Steven Hastings (Hanna); seven great-grandchildren, Zoe, Emerson, Greer, and Scout Haygood, and Jordon, Naomi, and Abigail Hastings; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
He also had ten siblings, Ira Zipperer, Kathryn Murray, Avieline Brittain (Fred), Michael Zipperer, Carla Zipperer, Dena Poland (Walt), Lee Zipperer, Gene Zipperer, Bryan Zipperer, and Lewis Zipperer.
A visitation to honor and remember Martin will be held from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642. His funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM, in the chapel. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
Martin leaves behind the memory of a life shaped by service, resourcefulness, and love. He will be remembered for the things he built, the interests he pursued with enjoyment, the wisdom he gathered in books, and the dependable presence he offered to others. His memory will remain dear to all who knew him.
