Franklin Pierce McGowan III, age 62, of Greenville passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his residence, from complications of diabetes.

Born in Greenville, Pierce was a son of Eugenia Lee Bryant McGowan of Greenville and the late Judge Frank P. McGowan Jr. He graduated from Christ Church Episcopal School and attended USC and Gardner-Webb. He had worked for General Wholesale Distributors. Mr. McGowan was a member of First Presbyterian Church and had served in the US Navy.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his brother and sister-in-law, Bryant and Alison McGowan of Columbia and their three children, Reed, Harriet, and Bryant; a special friend Holly Cochran of Greenville; aunts, Edith Bryant Smith and Virginia McGowan Smith; uncle H. Bronson Smith; and many cousins. 

Funeral services will be Monday, February 20, 2023 at 11:00AM in the Harper Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:45AM until 10:45AM. A private committal service will take place prior to the service.
