Fred A. Hamilton

Fred Allen Hamilton, 98, of 106 Townsend Drive, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at his home.
Born in Pickens County, Mr. Hamilton was a son of the late Hubert Earle and Cynthia Levada Riddle Hamilton. He graduated from Easley High School. As a lifetime employee, Mr. Hamilton retired as the plant manager of the Alice Plant of Alice Manufacturing Company. He also taught textile skills to soldiers, who returned from serving in World War II. Following his retirement, he was a bank courier for American Federal and an apprasier for R. Carl Byars Agency. A former member of Arial Baptist Church, Mr. Hamilton was a member of First Baptist Church, Easley, where he belonged to the Coley Cleveland Sunday School Class and the Friendship Club. He was a volunteer driver for Pickens County Meals on Wheels until age 90.
Surviving are a son, Charles Hill Hamilton and his wife, Lynn, of Dacusville; a daughter-in-law, Patsy Smith Hamilton, of Clemson; a sister, Ella Cannon of Easley; five grandchildren, Dr. Scott Allen Hamilton, Donna Hamilton Dickerson, Sandy Hamilton Gilstrap, Tami Hamilton Tinsley and Dee Hamilton Thomason; eleven great-grandchildren, Britt Hamilton, Miles Hamilton, Sara Dickerson, Rebecca Dickerson Hunter, Will Dickerson, James Gilstrap, Julia Gilstrap, Will Tinsley, Ryne Tinsley, Tori Thomason, and Jami Thomason. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamilton was predeceased by his wife, Virgil Mary Hill Hamilton; a son, Don Allen Hamilton; five brothers, Paul, Hubert, Robert, James, and Lucius Hamilton; and three sisters, Priscilla Armistead, Sara Cook, and Elizabeth Piephoff.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown from noon until 1:30 PM Wednesday.

The family is at the residence.
