Fred Phillip Smith

Fred Phillip Smith, 83, husband of the late Joyce Martin Smith, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Born in Greenville, AL, he was a son of the late Charles Elwood Armstrong and the late Lily Smith Armstrong. Mr. Smith retired as a valve technician at Duke Power, Oconee Plant after many years of service. Fred proudly served his country in the US Air Force and he was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where he belonged to the Victory Sunday School Class.

Surviving, are sons, Jeffrey Scott Smith of Asheville, NC and Jim Smith of Hendersonville, NC; daughters, Jackie Rogers (Floyd, Jr.) of Pickens and Debbie Martin of Hendersonville, NC; a sister, Mary Cotton of Phoenix City, AL; a nephew, Johnny Beam of Greenville; and six grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Beam Smith; brothers, James, Guy, Paul, Bill, and Robert Smith; and sisters, Beulah Bryan and Virginia Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Private entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
