Pickens, SC

Rev. Fred Reid, 85, formerly of Wolf Creek School Road, Pickens, and husband of the late Helen Garrett Reid, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 29, 2010.

Born in Oconee County, a son of the late Frank and Zonie Kelly Reid, Rev. Reid was a retired Baptist minister and was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald Reid (Judy) of Six Mile and Roger Reid (Juanita) of Pickens; two daughters, Martha Brown (Edward) and Marilyn Miller all of Pickens; one brother, Marshall Reid of Liberty; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Rev. Reid was predeceased by a daughter, Janice Reid; ten brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be 3:30 pm Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Reverends Roland Bearden, Roger Todd, Charlie Bishop, and Mr. Brian Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Cheohee Baptist Church Cemetery, Tamassee, SC.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

The family is at the home of Martha Brown, 526 Wolf Creek School Road, Pickens, SC 29671.
