Frederick H. (Fred) Anthony of 211 Plantation Drive passed away Wednesday May 31, 2006 following a prolonged illness. He was married to Theda Mann for sixty-six years. Born in Pickens December 1, 1919, his parents were Maka Boggs and Rob Anthony. He was in the Pickens High School Class of 1936 and Clemson College Class of 1940. During World War II he fought in Europe with the 15th Infantry Third Division. Among his citations were several Battle Stars, two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. When Gerrish Millikin Mill opened in Pendleton, he joined the staff and was there for 34 years before retiring in 1981. Fred was an avid golfer and enthusiastic sports fan, belonging to IPTAY for 48 years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Frederick of Anderson, daughter Linda Tuck and husband Barton of Greenville, and son Alan and wife Deborah of Pendleton; four grandchildren who added tremendous joy to his life: Jill Anthony Strickland and husband Steve, Rob Anthony and wife Mary Nell of Anderson, Jason and Cory Anthony of Pendleton and Clemson University. Other survivors are his sister Sarah Few and brother Marc Anthony. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter-in-law, Frances Haddock Anthony and his older brother Boggs Anthony. His loyal caregiver was Barbara Hanks who was assisted by her faithful friend Charles Pickens and her devoted daughter Sonya.

The family will receive friends at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central-Clemson Commons on Sunday from 3:00 - 5:00PM. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. It is requested that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pendleton Area Rescue Squad, 1 Depot Street, Pendleton, SC 29670 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621
