Frederick G. Martin, Clemson


Frederick George Martin, 94, husband of Elizabeth B. Martin of Clemson Downs, died April 14, 2007 at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Born in Peace Dale, RI, he was a son of the late Benjamin R. and Mary Salzer Martin. He lived the majority of his life in Syracuse and Skaneateles, N.Y. prior to moving to Clemson. He was a retired manager of The Home Insurance Company in Syracuse, NY. He was an Army veteran of WWII and graduated from Syracuse University where he was recently honored as a Letterman of Distinction. He was a member and President of Skaneateles Board of Education, President of Skaneateles Library Association, member of the -Board of Directors of Skaneateles Country Club, member of St. James Episcopal Church in Skaneateles, Volunteer at Clemson Downs Health Center, Communicant at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors at Clemson Downs.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Elizabeth B. Martin are a daughter, Wendy Martin Longo, Pendleton; brother John W. Martin, Port Charlotte, Fl; granddaughter, Marcia N. McTaggert, Anderson; daughter-in-law, Brenda M. Martin, Anderson. A son, Frederick George Martin, Jr. and a granddaughter, Sandra Diane Nix, predeceased him.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 2 pm at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson. The family will receive friends after the service in Moorman Parish Hall at the church. There will be a private family committal service.
