Clemson

Furman Valmore "Val" Harvey Jr., born on October 21, 1938, departed this life on November 22, 2024.

Val earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Management from Clemson A & M College in January of 1962. He often joked that he loved Clemson so much he graduated on "the 5 1/2 year plan". After more than 30 years working in S.C. State Government, he retired in 1993. He was an avid supporter of Clemson University and Tiger football, making Clemson his permanent home in 2012.

As a native of Beaufort, he was especially fond of the Lowcountry. Throughout Val’s life, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially saltwater fishing, running and exercising.

Val is survived by his wife of 57 years Nicki Harvey; daughter, Kim Haynes (Darin) of James Island; Grandchildren, Morgan Haynes and Abby Haynes; Brothers, Ray Harvey (Sharon) and Johnny Harvey (Candy); and several nieces and nephews.

Val is preceded in death by Father Furman V. Harvey Sr., Mother Frieda Perry Harvey and Sister Gail Edmonds.
