Gail Hart Paul, 88, wife of the late Frank Paul, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Born in Jersey Shore, PA, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Madeline Young Hart.

She studied at Lock Haven College earning a degree in Education. Her desire to be an educator led her to also earn a Masters in Education from University of Connecticut.

From an early age, Gail held a deep love for music. She delighted in playing the piano alongside her sister as a child and carried that passion with her throughout her life. At University Lutheran Church, she shared that joy through participation in the singing and bell choirs with her late husband, Frank Paul.

Gail devoted her career to education and played a pivotal role in the early development of Clemson Montessori School. In 1978, she authored one of the earliest sewing curricula for preschool children, weaving Montessori philosophy into needle arts; an element that continues to be reflected in many Montessori classrooms across the country today. She later served as Executive Director.

Even in retirement, her passion for education never waned. Gail remained actively involved in the school community by volunteering her time and nurturing her grandchildren’s love of learning. Her influence and legacy continue to be felt at the school to this day.

In retirement, Gail embraced opportunities to travel with her husband and summer in Pine Creek, Pennsylvania, while savoring life’s quieter pleasures: music, nature, and family. She loved playing the piano, taking long walks outdoors, and cherishing time with her family.

Gail is survived by her two sons Doug Paul (Debbie) of Seneca and David Paul of Pickens; her grandchildren JD (Cathy), Sydney (Drew), Rachel, and Victoria; her great – grandchildren Rylan, Olivia, Tinley, and Kennedy; and her siblings, Jon and Joel Hart.

In addition to her husband of over 50 years and her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her sister Ann Flynn.

The family will be holding a private service in her hometown of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clemson Montessori School, 207 Pendleton Road, Clemson, SC 29631 or one of the many Alzheimer and Dementia charities.
