Garnett "Joe" Foster, 88, of Raven Hill Way, husband of Pricilla Porter Foster, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born August 18, 1925 in Sutherlin, VA, he was a son of the late James and Elizabeth Elliott Foster. Mr. foster was a WWII veteran serving as a Navy diesel mechanic on the USS Batfish Submarine. He was a retired office manager with Transcontinental Gas and Pipeline with thirty one years of service. Mr. Foster was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Reidsville, NC but attended and was an honorary member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Easley.
In addition to his wife of seventeen years, he is survived by his son, John Foster (Jane); step children, Dell Elrod (Donna), Melanie Isley (Keith) and Selena Johnson (Jamie); daughter-in-law, Sandy Foster; and several grand and great-grandchildren, which he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Joel Foster and step-son, Lanny Elrod.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, January 6, 2014 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with Rev. Stephen Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow in the Robinson Memorial Gardens Chapel of Reflection.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
