Gary Alexander Girmindl, 75, husband of the late Sally Larkin Girmindl, died Thursday, May 24, 2012.
He was a native of Schenectady, NY and son of the late Julius C. and Agnes Kery Girmindl. He was a long time resident of Elmira, NY and Gastonia, NC before retiring to Clemson, SC in 1997.
Gary was a graduate of Alfred University where he lettered in basketball and golf and remained an avid competitive golfer throughout his life. He was a former Minor League Baseball General Manager and retired as a salesperson of fire protection equipment.
He was a proud supporter of Clemson University athletics, where he was a member of IPTAY and attended over 550 consecutive home basketball games. He was also an active member of University Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa G. Black (Paul) and Lynne G. McGuirt (Tony), both of Greenville, SC; two granddaughters, Olivia L. McGuirt and Eleanor M. McGuirt; two nieces and one nephew.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Julius J. Girmindl.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at University Lutheran Church in Clemson, SC with Pastor Larry F. Hartsell officiating.
