Gary Michael Mahaffey

Gary Michael Mahaffey, 75, of Easley, SC, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 25, 2025. He was born in Greenville, SC to J.D. "Dee" and Mattie Childers Mahaffey. 

He attended Clemson University and graduated from Furman University with a B.A. in Business/Marketing & Economics. He was an entrepreneur at heart and started several businesses after a successful career in human resources. His current business was his shining star, and he loved serving his many customers. Yes, he was still working! His favorite saying was "We doze but never close", and he lived by that saying, always being accessible to his customers. He was sincere and easily trusted. He was quick-witted, intelligent, encouraging, and optimistic.

Gary loved his family deeply and was very proud of them. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jeannie Mayfield Mahaffey and their children, Ian Mahaffey and Isabella Mahaffey.

He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Burns and Judy Finch (Fred); brother-in-law, Keith Mayfield (Cathy); sister-in-law, Karen Stoddard Manning (Bill); and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Doug Mahaffey (Pat); brother-in-law, Fulton Burns; brother-in-law, Neddy Stoddard; great-nephew, Jonathan Scruggs; his mother and father-in-law, Frances and Charles Griffith; and his life long best friend, Tom Bannister.

Our hearts are broken, but we will see him again, and that is our only comfort. Until then, we will miss him immeasurably.
